Grooming Apprenticeship-Inquire

We take all Breeds, all sizes, all coat types

We will take aggressive and/or hard to handle dogs (an added fee may apply)

Seniors and puppies are well taken care of-if they need potty breaks they are given plenty, if they can not handle standing on the table they can be groomed on the floor comfortably.

To avoid any miscommunications please leave specific instructions (even photos) as to what you want to see upon pick-up. Grooming prices contain a lot of variables, condition of coat, co-operation of your pet and the difficulty of the clip, approximate quotes will be given before we begin however the final price will not be determined until the work is complete.

WHAT IS THE SPA BATH?: Professional bathing given to every dog in for grooming. This includes double-washing, thorough rinsing, ear plucking/cleaning, nail trimming and full blow-dry.

We do BIG & small!

Long and double-coated breeds: Most double coated breeds will feel much lighter after their undercoat has been stripped out. It is our policy at Cedar Ridge that we will NOT torture your dog-if it is painful for the dog we will scissor and clip the mats or the whole body instead!

BRUSH OUT PROGRAM: For $11 every 2 weeks bring your dog after the intial thorough grooming at the regular breed price. This will keep your dog looking and feeling great with no mats. Depending on the dog the Spa Bath would be required every 4-10 weeks.

Nails only ~ $15 We use nail clippers and/or a nail grinder (a nail grinder gives a much shorter nail with no bleeding or pain)

Did you know?-ANAL GLANDS do not need to be done unless absolutely necessary on your dog. Doing them every time your dog goes to the groomer can create a NEED for it to be done. If your dog's poop is firm the way it should be the anal glands should expel themselves. If your dog's poop is always soft you may want to talk to your veterinarian about switching foods. Some dogs, especially small or toy breeds, are genetically predisposed to having to have the anal glands done. We recommend that you take your dog into your veterinarian to have them expelled if needed. Even a trained Professional can cause infection and/or rupture your dogs glands. We will only do them here if you firmly insist.

Just a few 'clients' enjoying Cedar Ridge!

It all started for me about 2 years when I needed to find a new groomer for my 2 Keeshonden (Kobi and Keesha) as their current groomer could no longer groom them because of the strain on her shoulder with all their fur.  So I went looking and found Sabrina and Rob at Cedar Ridge Complete Canine Care.  In my case having double coated dogs required constant brushing almost every second day.

When I started taking my dogs to Sabrina for grooming, we talked about their coats and trying to manage it all without it being such a chore.  Taking Sabrina’s advice I agreed to start having them clipped a bit instead of having the long coats.  The difference was unbelievable and so much easier to maintain.  From grooming we expanded to a number of their other services that they provide, daycare sessions for social mingling, some longer term kennel stays, to using the herbs recommended by Sabrina for my dog Keesha who had a kidney problem.  For about 8 months the herbs worked fantastically, the swelling and heat went down in the area and Keesha seemed to be doing great.  Unfortunately the old girl decided that enough was enough and no longer would take any food with the herbs or any medication in it.  Sadly Keesha had to be put to rest leaving a grieving owner and sister pack mate...

Just recently I noticed that Kobi too has swelling in the kidney area and we are starting the herbs and will hope that this extends her life. Kobi is a frisky energetic 10 ½ year old now and I know she has many more years to go.  Thanks to Sabrina I have an alternative way to treat her problem without all the side effects of prescription medication.

As of January 2008 I will be leaving the Cowichan Valley to move up island however I still plan to board Kobi at Cedar Ridge when I go away on long trips.  Every couple of months when Kobi needs a bath and grooming I will be bringing her down for her appointment.   When you find a place you like and trust you don’t want to give it up.

From someone that has utilized a number of the services that Cedar Ridge provides I couldn’t be happier with the treatment both my dogs and I have received over the years.

Thanks Sabrina and Rob,

Michele Porter

This section is for clients that have sadly passed on. They are all special to us.

Bernie was a faithful client that always made us laugh. He had a worried look about him but he was always very calm & casual-he was a funny soul. We nicknamed him Bernie Mac and Weekend at Bernie's. He will be missed!

Beau is a cat! Beau and his kitty buddies came in for grooming services. Beau was always a pleasure to groom. A lovely kitty!

Stetson was Beau's housemate. He was a charming little Sheltie, an easy guy to groom and a joy to be around. Beau & Stetson are in doggie & kitty heaven together now.

Becka came to us for grooming and was a great little girl. Always seemed to be smiling. She led a wonderful long life.

Keesha and Kobi were happy-go-lucky Keeshonds that used all of our services. They were such happy girls, overly exuberant coming into the shop every time! Keesha passed away first leaving Kobi to cope with the loss of her sister. Kobi made it through the grief and had a couple more years of time with her mom. They are both missed!
