Horse Rescue was a main part of Cedar Ridge Farm for just over 2 years. With everything else going on, limited space and the shear expense of rehabilitating horses we no longer do Horse rescue.

Unfortunately, the majority of what comes into rescue, especially horse rescue, are seniors.

These two Belgians were our first rescues taken in. Their beloved owner had passed away and they needed care. When they came to us their coats/skin were in need of major care-they had rain scald, lice and needed a GOOD brushing. Even though they were both seniors they still needed weight added to their topline and a little of the ribs. Chester was the stubborn, feisty one and McDuff was the aloof, sweet boy. We were able to clean them up nicely, with MUCH effort get their feet done (thanks Rick Billings for sweating for hours!), got their coat clipped to let their skin breath and added some nice weight.

Chester & McDuff ended up at a large acreage up island (this place was also wanting to start up horse rescue) They now see their old family, as they live close.

McDUFF:

This Belgian was just in need of a new home. He needed a good grooming and quite the opposite of most, he needed to be placed on a diet! He was a few hundred pounds overweight which does not benefit any animal. Duke was one of the sweetest horses to come through our gates-a gentle giant. He was adopted to a wonderful girl who was able to figure out that he had Mud Fever on his hind legs-she was able to give him the best care possible. Last 2 photos of Duke getting his teeth floated (filed) & his new owner riding him.
