Sadly, Fern has recently passed away from a tragic accident-her
jumping over fences ended her life. We miss Fernie dearly
and always will. She had a wonderful short life with us and
her new people. She loved to tear through the forest, bounce
in the ocean, have playtime with another puppy or just lay
cuddling in your arms. She will always be remembered and cherished
in our hearts as the sweet, funny girl that she was.

Cedar Ridge Farm used to do All Breed Rescue before focusing
on the Collies-here are some of the dogs that we have helped.
Sabrina
started taking in strays as a child-driving her mother crazy!
Then she started driving her husband crazy! In this photo
Sabrina is trying to fashion a temporary fence for 2 strays
found years ago.
At this point in Sabrina's life there were not too many places
to take stray animals, hours of business for shelters were
short and the thought of not knowing what was going to happen
to the animal was unbearble-Sabrina could see at some point
in her future animal rescue was to play a huge role.

A pup that was
chained to a tree with no food or water around for days. Sabrina
got him out of this situation and Jake went on to live his
life on a farm.

Dodge
had a very hard start-he was a very special pup-Sabrina saw
a sign on the side of the road reading "free puppies"
She thought she would check it out-all the pups were very
sickely-the owner said she would not give anymore away so
Sabrina begged and pleaded-she walked away with a dehyrated
pup full of worms. That night Dodge had diarrhea and vomitting-out
both ends came rocks, wood and glass! He was eating anything
to survive. Dodge was with us for a long time-Sabrina did
not want to give him up-finally she came to her senses knowing
that we had to make room for more! He is living his life in
the lap of luxury on a horse farm. From skinny, tiny pup to
large eared BIG boy...

Riley was an
owner surrender due to the dog not being safe around children-the
family was told to remove the dog from the home. This Australian
Cattle Dog (Blue/Red Heeler) came to us as a 4 year old unaltered
male. Riley was definately a 'guard' dog that was very unsure
of strangers. It took a few days for him to trust us enough
to be petted. After Riley came around he was a very sweet
boy BUT not with strangers or new dogs-he had a nasty streak
of aggression in him. We thought we would have to find a one
owner/no other dog home for him until the perfect family came
along-they did not mind that he was protective and he got
along great with their 2 dogs-Riley was adopted with his friend,
Madison. Other than his aggression we miss Riley's personality
around here-he was definately one of a kind!
The middle
photo is Riley, Madison & Chief playing-The last photo
is of Riley & Madison with their new pack

Madison
was purchased by us as a pup. She was meant to stay here as
a forever home but at 3 years old when Riley was adopted she
went to the same family-she had bonded with Riley and we were
both working full time (also at the time thinking about getting
out of rescue due to time constraints) We felt guilty about
giving Madison up but she went to a loving home.
The
middle photo is of Madison shaved for the summer-she was always
a dirty dog! The bottom is her and Riley sun bathing!

Chief was a tiny,
skinny, mangy looking pup that was bought for $8! His skin was
bare in many places with great irritation-it turned out that
he had a severe case of lice-poor little guy was so itchy! We
got him fixed up & fed and he blossomed into a gorgeous
boy with a heathly tan coat! He was good friends with Riley
& Madison (whether they liked it or not!) He was adopted
the very same day that Riley & Madison were picked up.

Nikki was brought
to us as an owner surrender because she was chasing his horses-she
was also chasing chickens. She was a sweet girl who needed a
firm but fair leader-she ended up being wonderful with our chickens
and livestock. She went to a family with children.

Lucy
was taken in sight unseen by us from Vancouver from SAINTS
rescue (supposed to be a Collie X-she definately had no Collie
in her-probably an Australian Cattle Dog mix) When she came
to us she wanted to be Alpha around here-since all the Collies
we had here at the time were passive she threw everyone into
a frenzy. Lucy started attacking our weakest, most elderly
female-we think she was trying to get rid of the weak in the
pack! Although she was tenacious and not great with the elderly
dogs (likely due to her upbringing), she fit in well at her
new foster home that had a pack of younger, more energetic
dogs and cats who wouldn’t put up with her attitude.
Lucy immediately found her way into her foster parents’
hearts and it became 'permanent foster care'
Lucy was wonderful and patient with people
of all ages. Even though she was arthritic, she loved to play
and always had a sparkle in her eye. She was always eager
to tag along with the outside chores! Lucy passed away this
year.
